Leroy Merlin in Brazil: a long-term commitment to AQUA-HQE certification

The first AQUA-HQE certified brand in Brazil in 2009, Leroy Merlin continues its long-term commitment to sustainable construction by initiating new AQUA-HQE certifications in operation in its stores in 2020.

In order to reduce its environmental footprint and meet efficient energy standards while ensuring a better quality of life for its customers and employees, Leroy Merlin Brazil has implemented a precursor program "Construir e Sustentar" (Sustainable construction) in 2009. Its objective is to act concretely for a more sustainable world for all.

Leroy Merlin had its first AQUA-HQE store certified in 2009. Indeed, the requirements of the standard in terms of respect for the environment, economic performance, responsible management and quality of life correspond to Leroy Merlin’s long-term commitment for the sustainable construction and operation of its stores.

AQUA-HQE certified stores are healthy for their occupants and economical in consumption (energy and water). The ecological impact from their construction is minimized. In addition, the life cycle of all materials is considered while

limiting the use of the territory. Furthermore, they favor accessibility and soft transport and reduce the risks and pollution from operations.

With 19 AQUA-HQE Construction certifications today and 9 in Buildings in Operation, the group plans to certify 22 additional stores in AQUA-HQE Buildings in Operation in 2020 in Brazil.
