Valencia: Successful pilot city for the ACCENT project
The ACCENT innovation project, Accompany Cities in Energy Strategy led by ENGIE France, is pursuing its way to the market, with new potential clients. Valencia – Spain – one of the pilot cities to experiment the ACCENT tools, met a great success when presenting it to the conference “Thinking the city: diagnostic tools for integrated urban regeneration”. The Valencian Institute of Building organized in late December 2015, the presentation of the ACCENT platform before a large number of representatives of local authorities and professionals in the field of urbanism and urban regeneration sector.
The ACCENT platform offers an energy diagnosis of city buildings and districts by collecting data such as building typology, regional climate and energy networks and by estimating energy consumption and performance of buildings. City data is displayed in a relevant spatial scale which allows users to assess the efficiency of the city and to localise priority zones for action.
The Valencian conference enabled to confirm the importance functionalities which allow visualising a lot of information from the existing urban reality, and that facilitate the analysis of the city, buildings and population conditions, in order to develop policies that suit the existing needs, especially on energy efficiency and rehabilitation.
Many synergies and perspectives of market opportunities came out of this conference. This adds to the current positive interest from cities in South of France for the ACCENT tools. The ACCENT functionalities will permit to define and assess energy strategies up to a 2020/2030 perspective. About 500 European cities, with over 100,000 inhabitants are potentially future customers of ACCENT services, on the mid-term.
