The results of the first stage of the Green Solutions Awards are out, each organizing country officially announced their champions. They are now qualified for the international finals and will be now examined by two juries composed of international experts. They will designate winners in each category for buildings, districts and infrastructures. The final results will be revealed on November 15th in Bonn, during the COP23, at la Galerie by WE.
Awards 2017 trends: low carbon and more attention to human
150 projects entered the competition this year, including 118 buildings. 19 countries are represented, showing the growing international recognition of the contest organised. From this wide diversity of projects, we can make out some trends worth highlighting. Buildings are definitely walking the path of low carbon performance, with either innovative or traditional solutions to curb their carbon footprint. Regarding infrastructures, it is now obvious that cities and territories are moving toward green energies and more energy sober cities (smart lighting, renewable energy production, smartgrids…). Last but not least, districts embrace a broader and more comprehensive vision of sustainable cities, a vision not only technical anymore, but more human to integrate inhabitants and life.

From national champion to international finalist
To win the Green Solutions Awards, candidates have to undergo two steps: the national and the international steps. First, buildings, districts and infrastructures, competed each in the most fitting category for them in their own country. In each country, different thematic juries composed of specialists, examined all case studies to select their national champions in each category – candidates from countries without a Construction21 platform were assessed by a specific jury. Construction21 users also voted online to designate their national favorite and send it to the finals.
Over 150 candidates, 59 national champions are now in finals.
A world class jury
International experts were chosen to evaluate finalists in each category. Their mission is to determine the most inspiring buildings, districts and infrastructures, in accordance with the objective of the Awards: to disseminate innovation and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable world.
The Awards ceremony to be held at the COP23
The winners of the Green Solutions Awards will be revealed in Bonn, during the COP23, in la Galerie by WE organized by World Efficiency Solutions in association with World Climate Summit.
Winners of the competition will receive international recognition and great visibility. They will benefit from a worldwide spread communication campaign, relayed by more than 60 media partners and professional organisations through our online media kit. And each international winner will be offered a video to be broadly disseminated on the web and social media.
Even more visibility…
Following this goal to disseminate innovation, Construction21 will participate in 2 major events of the sector to highlight some of the finalists. First, from November 6 to 9, on Batimat, a great international fair for the building industry: stakeholders of some of the finalist projects will be offered the opportunity to present their realisations and to answer questions from the visitors during workshops or TV sets.
Also, on World Efficiency Solutions – the international place to be for an economy sober in resources and carbon – from December 12 to 14, some of the districts and infrastructures distinguished by the juries will be highlighted.
Rendez-vous on Batimat and World Efficiency Solutions to find new sources of inspiration in sustainability!
