The annual rate of home and commercial building renovation is well under the 3% required to achieve European climate and energy goals.  There is a need to accelerate investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to boost cost-effective building renovation benefiting all Europeans.

Promising business models and financing solutions are being tested and implemented in Europe and globally.  How are they implemented and why are they effective? How can these business models be better replicated across Europe? What are the opportunities for investors and cities leading the clean energy transition?

The EU H2020 project STUNNING (SusTainable bUsiNess models for the deep reNovation of buIldiNGs) has the goal to promote successful and innovative building renovation packages and business models around a free, digital and collaborative knowledge sharing platform: the STUNNING Renovation Hub, so as to accelerate their adoption.

STUNNING is organizing this webinar, the second in collaboration with the BUILD UP platform, that will take place the 23rd of September at 12:00.

After a short introduction of the project by Karine Laffont-Eloire and Nicolas Peraudeau from DOWEL Management (project coordinator), STUNNING partners will present their main outputs from the project:

-  Lorenzo Dall’Oro from RINA Consulting will give an overview of the business models to finance the deep refurbishment of buildings that have been analysed by STUNNING;

-  Hugo Grasset from Solintel will present his results on the identification of barriers to the renovation of buildings, such as the embedded market inefficiencies due to the split of incentives in many European countries, or structural barriers like the insufficient resources in SMEs to tender for public procurement schemes. It will also be the occasion to show the solutions imagined to face these different categories of barriers;

-  Haitham Joumni from CSTB will explain the cost-benefit methodology (CBA) developed for STUNNING to analyze and rank energy renovation solutions in European countries. This methodology aims to identify the most efficient renovation solutions considering, building characteristics, energy solution performance, economic cost and economic benefits. It considers the whole life-cycle of each renovation solution, and compares the benefits and costs of different renovation packages.

Finally, Maëva Pratlong from S2i will present in details the Renovation Hub and the opportunities it offers to all stakeholders interested and involved in the energy-efficient renovation of buildings.

STUNNING is funded by the European Union’s research and innovation programme Horizon 2020 under grant agreement No 768287. It started on October 2017 with a duration of 24 months and is coordinated by DOWEL Management (France) with project partners CSTB (France), RINA Consulting (Italy), Solintel (Spain) and Steinbeis 2i (Germany).
