The heat transition has not yet fully taken off in the Netherlands, and sustainable innovations are encountering resistance from the current system in all sorts of ways. The innovative learning trajectory COIL - Learning Together for the Heat Transition (hereafter referred to as COIL) offers the opportunity to listen, learn and think about how we can give sustainable low-temperature innovations a fair chance.

The COIL project is an initiative commissioned by Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) and the Socially Responsible Energy Innovation program (part of the Top Sector Energy) to bring together a core group of innovators with whom we want to accelerate the heat transition: a colorful mix of building experts, neighborhood initiatives, companies, architects, etc.

Mijnwater in Heerlen was selected as one of the 3 cases to discuss important obstacles and opportunities for the Dutch heat transition. On June 11, Herman Eijdems (Director of Innovation at Mijnwater) will share the successes of Mijnwater, which has been providing heat and cooling to buildings in Heerlen for over 10 years. The focus of the session will be on how to overcome the biggest obstacles to 5th generation district heating and cooling development and bring this innovative concept into the mainstream.

Join the COIL session on the 11th of June, 9AM-12:30 to learn more and join the discussion [Session in Dutch]. You can subscribe here.
