This year's conference will focus on new materials and on solar energy, and on how these can be incorporated into the building skin. The principal aim of which being to reduce the energy consumption of buildings.

Early birds who register before 30 September will receive a 10% discount. A detailed conference program and information on how to reach BernExpo can be found online at www.energy-forum.com.

The building skin plays a key role in terms of improving the energy efficiency of a building. By fostering lively exchange between scientists, architects, engineers, energy advisors and the building industry, this conference will shed light on the significance of the building skin, with a view to putting scientific know-how into practice. Dialogue between these groups should encourage technology transfer and inter-disciplinary action within the construction industry.

In the future, new buildings will be either energy neutral or positive, by virture of the fact that solar energy technologies will be integrated into the building skin. Buildings will play a pivotal role in the decentralising of energy supply. They will not only take energy from the grid, but will also feed it into it where necessary. In order that we can reach this goal tomorrow, we must set the right course and lay the necessary foundations today, always keeping in mind the motto "Building the future now".
