"How to optimize your building with a rooftop greenhouse ? The GROOF project is answering you"

Collecting the wasted energy from buildings and using it to grow plants in greenhouses on the city' rooftops, does that appeal appeal you? This is the aim of the European project GROOF (Greenhouses to reduce CO2 on Roofs). Although relocating part of the food production, the energy savings limits the carbon impact of the building and the greenhouse.

You wonder how to build up a rooftop greenhouse? And how relevant and feasibility such a project is? The Groof team is pleased to announce its participation at Batibouw, the Belgian construction and renovation fair, through its webinar. The Council for the Economic Development of Construction (CDEC) and the Building Sector Training Institute (IFSB) and will showcase their knowledge gained through this project in terms of the technical feasibility of the construction of a rooftop greenhouse and the energetic benefits that it can generate.

The Scientific and Technical Centre for Building (CSTB), partner of Groof, will present you the guide of the best practices for the installation of rooftop greenhouses, currently prepared by the partners of the project, the result of 3 years of experience through a state of the art, an analysis of Groof's pilot projects and the guidance of 10 projects of rooftop greenhouses. You will discover the components for an optimal construction of rooftop greenhouses, which is sustainable economically, energetically and in production.

The Groof project, funded by INTERREG NWE and the Wallonia region of Belgium, brings together 11 European partners from Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Germany and Spain. In Belgium, GROOF is coordinated by the Eco Construction ClusterGroupe One and the University of Liège (via C-RAU and the Smart City InstituteHEC Liège).
