Meanwhile, it is necessary to support and promote the healthy public building industry.

Events

On December 6th, 2018, the Construction21 International "Green Solutions Award" award ceremony was held in Katowitz, Poland, where the 24th United Nations Climate Change Conference was held, unveiled the global shortlisted projects, which include 8 projects from China. At the Healthy Building Conference, these 8 finalists were presented the certificates of the "Green Solutions Award".

To promote the full integration of industry, education and research in the healthy building industry, China Academy of Building Research and China Gezhouba Group Real Estate Co., Ltd. reached consensus on health building technology research, standard system establishment, project practice and professional and technical personnel training. They also signed the cooperation strategy and unveiled the nameplate of "Healthy Building Joint Innovation Lab".

Keynote speeches

Zhang Yinping, professor at the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, presented the theme report "Key Technologies and Applications of Indoor Air Quality Assessment and Control". From this presentation, he mentioned that indoor air quality in China faces both inner and outer aspects of problems, which may seriously endanger people's health. Aiming at these issues, a new VOC pollution source measurement, evaluation and control system was established in recent studies. The air purification equipment and its performance evaluation technology and were developed and had been applied in indoor air quality engineering design and operation evaluation. The development of healthy buildings requires interdisciplinary cooperation and it is hoped that practitioners from universities, research institutes and enterprises will work together to solve problems in the field of healthy construction.

In the theme report named “Introduction to the World Green Building Council (WGBC) and Air Quality Action Plan”, Catriona Brady, head of the Healthy Buildings Business at the World Green Building Council (WGBC), mentioned that the WGBC and the Climate and Clean Air Alliance will carry out a building air quality campaign and call for national actions from 2020. Catriona Brady also proposed specific solutions for a range of stakeholders.

Events

At present, more than 3 million square meters of projects have been planned or put into operation in the field of healthy buildings. In order to popularize the concept of healthy building and display scientific and technological achievements. Healthy Building Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance selected several outstanding projects and awarded them the title of “Healthy Building Demonstration Base” for demonstration and education. The four selected projects are: China Petroleum Building, Zhong Heng Design Group R&D Center Building, Landsea New West Suburb Project as well as Foshan Contemporary Wanguo MOMA Project. The ceremony of issuing the title "Healthy Building Demonstration Base" was held on the spot of this conference.

Keynote Speeches

Ma Xiuxing, vice chairman of the Healthy Building Alliance and executive vice president of Xiamen Academy of Building Research Group, introduced the progress of waste classification work in Xiamen in the theme report of “Methods and Effects of Kitchen Waste Treatment in Green Residential Areas in Xiamen”. She made a comparative analysis of three different kitchen waste treatment systems--household kitchen waste treatment system, terminal centralized system and centralized garbage disposal system, which may provide reference for the disposal of kitchen waste in green residential areas.

Kang Jian, deputy director of the Healthy Building Alliance Committee, Chang Jiang Scholars and professor of the School of Architecture of Harbin Institute of Technology, presented in the theme report of "Soundscape Design" that the soundscape is not the traditional commonsense of noise controlling, but the relationship among the sense of hearing, the listener, the acoustic environment and the society. In soundscape design, ambient sound should be regarded as “resources” rather than “waste”, that is, considering the favorable sound source while reducing noise and creating an overall sound environment that is more conducive to human health.

In the theme report of “Effects of different particle size indoor particles on cardiovascular risk indicators in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease”, Guo Xinbiao, director of the Institute of Environmental Medicine of Peking University, introduced the current status of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in China. There are nearly 100 million patients in China who are suffering chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and the prevalence rate of adults over 40 years old in these patients was as high as 13.7%. Studies showed that particulate matter has a significant impact on this disease: the smaller the particle size, the greater the impact. Therefore, the controlling of particulate matter is essential in ensuring indoor air quality.

Xing Liping, Pwc China Healthcare Industry Management consulting partner, predicted the development trend of healthy real estate in the theme report of “Real Estate and Health: Exploring the New Direction of Cross-border Transformation of Housing Enterprises”.
