Reasons for participating in the competition(s)
The cohousing SANGIORGIO was designed after a carefullyanalyses of the project site. It's built with natural and recyclable materialesand it reaches the energyefficiency class A+ (energy consumption lower than 10 kW/h sqm per year) thanksto the thermal insulation made with wood-fiber panels and the photovoltaic plant on the roof. The cohousing could be an off-grid building: it has no naturalgas grid connection, the wastewater treatment is provided on-site and there's arainwater collection system of 10.700 liters. The first phase cohousing building has a woodenstructure in X-LAM panels, it's a three storey compact building and its shapeis designed to protect the windows from the sun during the summer months.
