Welcome joining in the 2018 Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2018)

The 2018 Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2018) will be convened in 30-31 October 2018 at the United Nations Conference Center, Bangkok, Thailand, co-organized by the Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), themed as “Advancing Urban Innovations to Achieve SDG 11 and the New Urban Agenda” and served as the observance of World Cities Day 2018.

GFHS 2018 is organized at a critical point in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda. The ambition of these global agendas will require the transformation of cities and the fostering of innovation to manage growth and create high-quality, resilient and sustainable urban development. Senior officials from the United Nations, high-level officials from Thailand and other national governments will join city mayors, practitioners and civil society to provide keynote addresses and participate in multi-stakeholder dialogues on how to leverage the potential of cities to realize the global objectives. More than 500 stakeholders from public sector, private sector and civil society will attend.

GFHS 2018 is a global platform for high-level dialogues, and sharing of innovative approaches and solutions, strategies, technologies and successful local experiences. The forum seeks to enhance capacity, foster new partnerships and effective actions, and promote cooperation and green development.

SCAHSA 2018 will be hosted as one of the highlights of GFHS 2018. Sustainable Cities And Human Settlements Awards (SCAHSA) is a worldwide prize annually awarded by Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS) and supported by renowned international organizations including UN Environment, and it is focused on promoting the implementation of 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, notably goal 11. It has been successfully held for twelve times to date and the awardees come from different parts of the world. GFHS Secretariat accepts applications all year round, from cities, towns, scenic spots, communities, entities and individuals including children. The deadline for applications and nominations for SCAHSA 2018 is August 15, 2018.
