The European Commission at Ecomondo 2019: EU Programmes for your circular ideas.

Once again the European Commission will take part in Ecomondo, the annual trade fair for the green and circular economy. The expo will take place in Rimini, Italy from 5 to 8 November 2019. It will bring together all sectors of the circular economy, from material and energy recovery to sustainable development.

EASME – the European Commission’s Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises – will show how EU funding helps to design a better circular world. It will do so by showcasing at its stand – located at the ‘Hall Sud’ – concrete EU-funded projects. Each project deals with one of this year’s main topics: Sustainable MobilityFood WasteSustainable BuildingsPlastics Management. The projects are all managed by EASME and have received funding from one of the programmes that EASME implements on behalf of the European Commission: Horizon 2020 Energy EfficiencyHorizon 2020 EnvironmentCOSMELIFEEMFF and the  European Innovation Council pilot.

At the EU stand, visitors will also have the chance to meet advisers from the Enterprise Europe Network across the whole duration of the event.

This year, EASME will organise several info-sessions on EU funding opportunities under the four aforementioned main themes. The sessions will take place at Ecomondo on 7 November in Room Ravezzi 1. The agenda is as follows:

Furthermore, Ecomondo visitors will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from EASME and the European Commission during the One-to-EU meetings. These one-to-one talks will be held at the EU stand across the event and will enable visitors to get useful insights about the funding opportunities available. Book your meeting today

The fair attracts over 116,000 visitors and 1,200 exhibitors each year. Alongside Ecomondo, a large exhibition, the Key Energy Expo, will feature energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions and applications.

Spotlight on the Sustainable Buildings Sessions that would take place during the event:

EUCalc: The  European  Calculator  aims  to  provide  decision makers with a highly accessible, user-friendly, dynamic modelling solution to quantify the sectoral energy demand, greenhouse gas (GHG) trajectories and social implications of lifestyle and energy technology choices in Europe.

CINDERELA: The project aims to develop a new Circular Economy Business Model (CEBM) for use of secondary raw materials (SRM) in urban areas, connecting different industries, the construction sector and municipal services, decision makers and the general public with the support of an innovative ICT tool.

LIFE HEROTILE: The project aims to design and produce two types of roof tiles with higher air permeability through overlap of the tiles and improved energy performance through under-tile ventilation.

ODORPREP: Real time, automatic and remote-activated sampling system for industrial odour emissions compliant with the European Standard EN 13725.

LTT: Long-term testing of airtightness to increase energy efficiency in buildings. The LTT project is designed to enable a rapid and successful commercialisation of our Long-Term Testing of airtightness technology.

DRIVE 0: The project aims to come to a decarbonization of the EU building stock and to accelerate deep renovation processes by enhancing a consumer-centred circular renovation process in order to make deep renovation more attractive for consumers and investors and more environmentally friendly.

MOGU floor: Natural-Grown Flooring for Circular Buildings. MOGU floor is a 100% biobased tile made from agricultural or industrial residual biomass. It outperforms the competing solutions already available on the market in terms of safety, fire resistance, thermal insulation, shock and noise absorption.
