Cost-Effective Modular Housings to Optimize Energy-Neutral in Tropical Climates

Modular prefabrication presents an opportunity to save cost in many aspects, this to answer under-served community’s demand for housing, either to meet and help the government of 29% target of carbon reduction.

This modular house, with its locality not only can improve the quality of construction, save the construction time, and provide high productivity,  but also can be the way to reduce energy cost and produce energy to meet energy neutral or nearly neutral. This study of literature review reveals that up to 20% of construction costs can be saved through this modular construction. And if considering to improve the energy level to apply passive design strategy about 10% reduction of annual construction and zero expense for zero energy modular-houses with photovoltaic applied.

Keywords – Modular Housing, Prefabricated House, Cost-Effectiveness, Net Zero Building, nearly Net Zero Building.
