The direction to Sustainable Places

A major event for the energy efficient buildings (EeB) community is due to take place in the south of France early in October, and DIRECTION won’t be on the sidelines.

Sustainable Places 2014, as it is known, will focus on energy efficiency at building, neighbourhood, district and city levels and will therefore be of interest to a broad range of stakeholders. It will cover research and innovation projects and initiatives across the construction value chain.

Carlos Bárcena Martín of DRAGADOS will represent DIRECTION onsite and speak during a closed session to explore European EeB project clustering possibilities and cross-project collaboration. In addition, DIRECTION will feature in a poster session open to all attendees profiling leading European research projects and resources in the sector.

SP2014 is being organised by FP7 projects RESILIENT and DIRECTION cluster partner PERFORMER. The event’s primary aim is to bring together stakeholder communities from across the EeB value chain in order to disseminate project achievements and explore development plans. These communities will be able to gain the latest insights on the most advanced research and innovation projects, to develop synergies and to raise the game in standard-setting for the future.

Among the highlights will be six keynote speakers including Christian Tordo who is President of EPA Plaine du Var, a local public development body, responsible for setting out a far-reaching sustainable urban policy package in the greater Nice area where SP2014 will be held.

The three-day event will conclude with a visit to the pilot sites and laboratories.
