Users'Choice Awards tied winner: Refuge du Goûter

The new Refuge du Gouter is a real challenge to the extreme conditions of its environment. Located 3835 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mont Blanc, it is subjected to winds of up to 250km of / h and temperatures of -40 ° C.

 

The design took into account all these factors to achieve an ellipsoidal shape, the main axis faces the wind. A form that is simple, ingenious and aesthetically pleasing.

 

The orientation of the building, resource management and especially the wooden overall structure is assembled by sealing resin. The facets constituting the envelope are isolated by panels wood fibers and are covered with satin stainless steel.

 

Dimensioned for transport, the prefabricated modules are assembled on site. The building works in total autonomy through the combination of several systems: solar thermal, cogeneration rapeseed oil, solar collectors ...
